Registration & Graduation

Registration
  • Definition : Payment of tuition and other fees by the deadline after course registration.
  • Dates : During February and August
  • Payment Method : Tuition should be remitted to the account in the tuition bill posted on 'My EUREKA' at any bank(including the post office and NongHyup).
  • Important Notes: Students who fail to register or request leave of absence during the registration period will be dismissed.
Subject registration
  • Definition : Tuition payment for credits after completing the expiration of course years

    Expiration of course year

    • A. Master's Degrees Program: 2 years
    • B. Doctoral Degrees Program: 2 years
    • C. Combined Master's and Doctoral Degrees Program: 4 years
  • Dates :Early March, Early September
  • Payment Method: Tuition should be remitted to the account in the tuition bill posted on 'My EUREKA' at any bank(including the post office and NongHyup).
  • Important Notes: Students who fail to register or request leave of absence during the registration period will be dismissed.
Thesis registration
  • Definition : Registration of thesis seminars for thesis guidance or examination upon program completion.
  • Dates: During February and August
  • Registration Period
    • A. Master's Degrees Program
      Following completion of the program, registration should take place within the submission period (up to 7 years after admission) during the semester of thesis guidance or examination.
    • B. Doctoral Degrees Program
      Following completion of the program, registration should take place within the submission period (up to 11 years after admission) during the semester of thesis guidance or examination.
    • C. Combined Master's and Doctoral Degrees Program
      Following completion of the program, registration should take place within the submission period (up to 13 years after admission) during the semester of thesis guidance or examination.
  • Payment Method: Tuition should be remitted to the account in the tuition bill posted on 'My EUREKA' at any bank (including the post office and NongHyup).
Research registration
  • Definition: Registration to apply for the foreign language requirement or comprehensive examination, or for permission to use on-campus research facilities without attending thesis seminars.
  • Dates: During February and August
  • Times: Upon completion, students may register as many times as preferred during the semester prior to submitting their thesis.
  • Payment Method: Tuition should be remitted to the account in the tuition bill posted on 'My EUREKA' at any bank (including the post office and NongHyup).
  • Important Notes
    • A. Making changes in the research registration (for whom it applies)
      1. Applicable to : Students eligible for thesis registration who wish to change from thesis to research.
      2. Changes to research registration should take place during the registration period (early February, early August) through the school website.

    • B. Thesis guidance or examination is not available during a research semester.
Course
Dates
  • A. Course registration period : During February and August
  • B. Confirmation and drop/add period : First 5 days of each semester
Credits per Semester
  • A. Up to 12 credits and 3 extra if registering for extra courses. (Research students in all programs : up to 6 credits)
  • B. Students in the regular program who have passed the comprehensive examination may register for 1 course along with the thesis seminar. Students who are completing the program may not register for courses.
  • C. Upon completion, courses registered twice throughout the Master's and Doctoral program will be considered as been taken once only.

Undergraduate Courses (Applicable to the Master's and Combined Program)
  • A. Credits : A student may take up to 6 credits towards their major among courses open to 4th year undergraduate students.
  • B. Procedure
    1. Consult the department head before signing up for courses.
    2. Type in the number and division of the undergraduate course and select 'combined course' on the course registration page.
Extra Credit
  • A. Definition : Credit for students whose degree program is different from their major field or students in need of extra courses within their major and have been approved.
  • B. Number of Credits : Courses worth minimum 3 credits may be taken.
  • C. Procedure
    1. Set up an appointment with the department head during the first registration period of the first semester.
    2. When registering for extra courses mark 'extra credit' in the course division.
    3. Student may register for 3 additional credits during registration when taking extra courses.
Thesis Seminar
  • There is no credit for the thesis seminar. Students are required to take and pass at least 1 semester for the master's program and 2 semesters for the doctoral program. Students handing in their degree thesis must take the thesis seminar during the same semester.
Individual Subject Research
  • A. Definition : Course for students involved in research during the same semester. A confirmation form needs to be submitted beforehand. (The research subject must be registered at the Research before the drop/add period).
  • B. Credit per semester : 3 credits
  • C. Total credits
    1. Master's Program : Maximum 6 credits
    2. Doctoral and Combined Program : Maximum 12 credits
    3. Credits are counted towards student's major.
  • D. Procedure
    1. Sign up for 'individual subject research' (course number : R0001) through the online course registration system.
    2. Submit 'individual subject research plan document' confirmed by the professor in charge of research subject to Registrar office (ECC B305).
Professional Graduate Schools and Other Department Courses
  • A. Definition: Taking courses from Ewha's Professional Graduate Schools (The Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, The Graduate School of International Studies, The Graduate School of Social Welfare, The Graduate School of Business, The Graduate School of Medicine, The Graduate School of Law) or other departments.
  • B. Credits: Master's Program - Maximum 12 credits, Doctoral Program - Maximum 18 credits
Exchange Course Credits
  • A. Definition : Exchange courses available each semester at 3 graduate schools (Ewha Woman's University, Yonsei University, Sogang University), the Seoul National University Graduate School and Korea National Defense University.
  • B. Registered and Gained Credits per semester
    1. Students may take up to 1/2 of the credits needed for each degree program.
    2. Maximum 6 credits per semester.
  • C. Registration
    1. 3 Graduate Schools (Ewha Woman's University, Yonsei University, Sogang University)
      • Online registration during the registration period with help from the academic adviser and department head.
    2. Seoul National University
      • Turn in 'Registration form for exchange courses at Seoul National University' to the Registrar with help from the academic adviser and department head.
      • Receive a temporary student id number from Seoul National University and sign up for courses through Seoul National University's course registration system.
      • Register online during Ewha's course registration period
    3. Korea National Defense University
      • Processed additionally
Important Notes
  • Graduate students must earn at least half of the total required credits at the Division of EcoScience.
